“He who conquers himself is the greatest warrior” – cit. Buddha
Whoever you are, adult or child, man or woman, strong or weak, sick or healthy, if you have
the soul of a warrior you are a warrior and you will always have a flame in your eyes, a flame that always remains the same, protect it!
In our common imagination, a warrior means a man trained for war and armed for combat. History
is full of valiant warriors dedicated to courage, sacrifice and love forged by an ethic that guided
their actions and bestowed great honor.
Today’s society, with its distractions, injustices and unbridled competition, makes individual growth
difficult and dangerous. In order to establish itself and find its place in the world, it sometimes
seems to have to give up our humanity and those values that make us truly special. When you
realize that you are different, that you cherish loyalty and that you want to give real value to your
life, the warrior in you has awakened.
Being warriors today means being true to oneself, to one’s values, building one’s “armor” step by step, honing one’s skills and advancing light and unassailable on one’s path. This means knowing ourself to choose in every moment to be the best version of ourselves and to train one’s indole to go beyond our thoughts and to overcome suffering.
The fight, once physical, now takes place against ourselves, against the ghosts of our past, the
fear of an uncertain future, our mistakes and our regrets. These are the most dangerous enemies and
our thoughts can turn into poison or antidote by changing the way we face battles and the results
that follow. There are too many people who give up their passions, imagination and the arts, for fear
of being judged by others or to adapt to the corruption of the time in which we live.
Yet, We are the Society, and making ourselves better is our most important assignment to save ourselves and future generations. Dedicating your life to making this world a better place than
how we inherited it must be one of those most frequent thoughts in our mind. And it is the
imagination, purity of soul and passion that often saves us, animating our flame and reminding us of
those values that are sometimes forgotten or deliberately ignored.
In Odaka Yoga zen and bushido, the way of the warrior, are the tools with which we train our warrior attitude through the search for a calm, fluid mind, free from conditioning. Meditation in movement and functional yoga practice are the essence of Zen Warrior yoga whose purpose is to arrive not to fight, to achieve that harmony and that peace that is always present in ourselves. Thus, a simple Yoga lesson becomes a Zen experience capable of cleaning up thoughts, of moving us and rekindling in us that flame that makes us feel alive, satisfied and useful in the world.
Stop fighting and turn into that Zen warrior inside of you!
