Today I would like to talk about what makes Odaka Yoga so special for all of us. Odaka Yoga moves with the rhythm of the ocean and helps us to expand the flow of our vital life force where music, movement and breathing are used to mutate the pattern of our cerebral waves activating mainly the Alfa and the Theta.

The fundamental base of Odaka Yoga is made up of 5 movements. The first is the “Ripples Rhythm.” In this movement, our thoughts do not go before our body movement but moves to the beat and the sound of the ocean. The intention and action is all in one flow. The second movement is called the “Backwash Rhythm.” This symbolizes the empty space, the listening intently, to watch the actions of the observer; it is an action without the thought process. The sequence of poses that represent it is based on the forward bending where we pick ourselves up in order to be able to listen to ourselves better. The third movement is the “Point Break Rhythm” that creates the balance between control and letting go. This is done by a sequence of backward bending poses where the muscles are engaged with the falling backwards motion which makes us feel as though we are abandoning ourselves completely. The penultimate is the “Vortex Rhythm” which represents the actual ability of letting go, of relying upon the unknown, to change our point of view; from here we enter into the sequence of twisting poses that symbolize our change of perspective. The last movement that makes up the essence of Odaka Yoga is the “Roller Rhythm.” This increases our ability to concentrate or enables us to focus our attention by allowing our mind to be completely present through balance poses that are expressed through movement.

These movements allow our restraints to be transformed and once they are altered, our habitual pattern of movement and thought are dissolved and each position creates space for a dialogue between our deepest fears and the possibility of overcoming them. The Odaka flow allows for us to go deep within ourselves and become “liquid”. Odaka Yoga allows you to embrace adaptability while keeping an inner peace. It becomes a complete fluid and transformative body-mind experience – and one that you will not forget.

When practicing Odaka Yoga, our brain waves are highly activated through the movements and therefore, the brain is in concentrated thought. The endoderm, which is part of the embryonic leaf, is activated, our survival instincts awaken, our organs, especially those of our digestive system, respiratory system, urinary system and reproductive system are triggered. Our breathing becomes sacred, the poses and opening of the hips become easier. One begins to confront themselves with the difficult mental outlooks of Klesha, Avydia and Nescenza because yoga is the suspension of mental fluctuations and with Odaka Yoga we enter in sync with the profound rhythm of life. The movement gives life to these forces at work and makes the experience marvelous.
